ISO 20022 camt.052 Bank to Customer Account Report
camt.052 is the ISO 20022 XML account report. Banks use it for intraday balances and entries, including pending items, for one or more accounts.
Treasury, liquidity and payment operations teams use camt.052 to monitor intraday positions, confirm incoming funds and manage prefunding. It is the ISO 20022 successor to MT942 and MT941, and banks may send it hourly or on activity.

Reading balances
Read Rpt/Bal entries by Tp/CdOrPrtry/Cd. Intraday reports usually carry ITBD (interim booked) and ITAV (interim available), stamped with Dt/DtTm. Some banks add OPBD or PRCD in the first report of the day and CLBD or CLAV in the last. Amt is unsigned, so apply DBIT as negative. Use the latest report by CreDtTm.
Parsing and reconciliation pitfalls
- Bal is optional in camt.052. A report with entries but no balances is valid, so never assume a balance exists.
- PDNG entries are not booked. Exclude them from ledger totals; they reappear as BOOK later, so match on AcctSvcrRef or EndToEndId to avoid double counting.
- Reports can be sent on a schedule or on activity, and some are cumulative. Use ElctrncSeqNb and entry references to deduplicate.
- ITBD and ITAV are snapshots that can change. Do not treat an interim balance as end-of-day; reconcile against the camt.053 CLBD.
- Timestamps include offsets. Normalise CreDtTm, Bal/Dt/DtTm and BookgDt/DtTm to UTC before ordering reports across banks and regions.
How it compares
camt.052 replaces MT942 and MT941 and adds interim balances and pending entries. camt.053 is the end-of-day booked statement with mandatory balances. MT942 carries no standard balances. BAI2 covers intraday reporting with 030 and 060 codes and as-of-date modifier 3.
Polynopsis reads statement files like this one through a forwarding inbox and turns them into a live position alongside your API-connected accounts. See how it works.
Frequently asked questions
What is camt.052 used for?
camt.052 reports account activity and balances at a point in time, usually during the day. Banks use it for intraday cash visibility, showing booked and pending entries and interim balances before the end-of-day camt.053 statement.
What do ITBD and ITAV mean?
ITBD is the interim booked balance and ITAV is the interim available balance. Both are calculated during the business day at the time stated and can still change. They are the typical balance codes in intraday camt.052 reports.
Can camt.052 include pending transactions?
Yes. An entry with Sts PDNG is not yet booked. If it books, it appears again with status BOOK in a later report or statement. A pending entry cannot be reversed, unlike a booked one.
