MT940 transaction code NVDA: Value Date Adjustment
In MT940 statements and MT942 interim transaction reports, NVDA means Value Date Adjustment: transaction type N (non-SWIFT transfer) with identification code VDA. The same code with type F, FVDA, marks a first advice.
Value Date Adjustment. SWIFT adds: Used with an entry made to withdraw an incorrectly dated entry - it will be followed by the correct entry with the relevant code. Used in field 61, subfield 6, of MT 940 and MT 942 after transaction type N or F, so it appears as NVDA or FVDA.
How it appears in field 61
Field 61 (statement line) carries the value date, an optional entry date, the debit or credit mark (D, C, or RD and RC for reversals), an optional funds code, the amount, then the transaction type and identification code, the reference for the account owner and, optionally, two slashes followed by the bank's reference. An example with a made-up amount and references:
