Prefunding IDR payouts in Indonesia
Prefunding payouts in Indonesia means holding IDR with a payout partner or a local settlement account before transfers are paid, so recipients are paid without waiting for funds to arrive. Payouts run over BI-FAST and BI-RTGS. There are 20 weekday bank closures in Indonesia in the next 12 months to fund around. The rules and timings below are the ones that decide how much to hold and when to top up.
Funding rules and timing in Indonesia
- BI-FAST participants manage cash liquidity in their BI-FAST settlement accounts, and top-ups from BI-RTGS settlement accounts can only be made during BI-RTGS operating hours, so weekend and night payouts depend on balances placed beforehand. source
- BI-RTGS runs 06:30 to 19:00 WIB on its operating days, which caps when rupiah liquidity can move between banks' settlement accounts. source
- Xendit lists a BI-FAST limit of IDR 250,000,000 per transaction; larger payouts go over RTGS with a 2 p.m. Jakarta cut-off. source
- Since 1 July 2026 banks must ensure that spot purchases of foreign currency against rupiah above US$10,000 a month per party have underlying documents, down from US$25,000 (from 2 June 2026), US$50,000 (from 1 April 2026) and US$100,000 under PADG No. 11 of 2024; this matters when converting rupiah back to dollars. source
- Nium notes that transactions above Rp100 million must be reported to the Indonesian authorities with supporting documents on the underlying transaction. source
The rails that spend the prefund

| BI-RTGS | High-value real-time gross settlement, open 06:30 to 19:00 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on operating days set by Bank Indonesia. | source |
| SKNBI (national clearing) | Batch clearing; Nium's cut-off for SKN and RTGS payouts is 2 p.m. Jakarta time, while BI-FAST and online transfers run 24x7. | source |
