Over the year-end peak (1 December 2026 to 15 January 2027) the dates to plan around are: Fri 4 Dec 2026 (Farmers' Day), Fri 25 Dec 2026 (Christmas Day), Sat 26 Dec 2026 (Boxing Day), Mon 28 Dec 2026 (Boxing Day (observed)), Fri 1 Jan 2027 (New Year's Day), Thu 7 Jan 2027 (Constitution Day).

Why this matters for prefunding
When Ghana banks or payment rails close, a top-up sent to a local payout partner may not land until the next business day. Remittance demand often rises around the same holidays. Fund the corridor before the closure, sized for the closed days plus your normal top-up lead time. Check your corridor runway.

Dec 2026 block: Farmers' Day Fri 4 Dec, Christmas Fri 25 Dec, Boxing Day Sat 26 Dec observed Mon 28 Dec, New Year Fri 1 Jan, then Constitution Day Thu 7 Jan 2027 (which may be moved to Fri 8 Jan). That is three long weekends in five weeks. The 2025 amendment (Act 601 as amended) restored Republic Day (1 Jul) and Founder's Day (21 Sep), added Shaqq Day after Eid-ul-Fitr, dropped 4 Aug, and lets the President move midweek holidays to a Monday or Friday by executive instrument, usually announced only weeks ahead. Sources describe the direction of the move differently (GNA: preceding Friday or following Monday; Ghanaian Times: following Friday or preceding Monday). The Ministry of the Interior has not yet published the 2027 list, so 2027 substitutes are unconfirmed. GIP runs 24/7; RTGS (GIS) hours were not confirmed and no Bank of Ghana page on them was reached.
