Rapyd: balances, prefunding and reporting
Rapyd is a global payments platform whose Disburse product sends payouts from a multi-currency Rapyd Client Wallet to bank accounts, cards, eWallets and cash pickup locations in over 100 countries and more than 65 currencies. Payouts run on a Good Funds model, so clients prefund the Client Wallet and track it through the GET /v1/ewallets/{ewallet}/accounts endpoint, the Client Portal account balance page, wallet webhooks, PDF account statements and daily CSV reconciliation reports.
What Rapyd does
- Rapyd Disburse sends local and cross-border payouts to bank accounts, eWallets, cards and cash, for one-to-one and mass payouts in B2B, B2C and P2P use cases, with FX built in. It is available through the API and the Client Portal. source
- Payouts can be created three ways: uploading a CSV file in the Client Portal, sending an ISO 20022 XML file to Rapyd SFTP, or calling the Disburse API. source
- A Rapyd Wallet is built around a client wallet (the business's primary account) and user wallets beneath it. A payout moves money from a wallet to a third-party payment method, while a transfer moves money between Rapyd Wallets. source
Coverage
- Rapyd states that Disburse completes payouts to over 100 countries in more than 65 currencies, using wallets, cards, bank transfers or cash. source
How funds are held and prefunded
- Rapyd Disburse uses a Good Funds model: funds must be available in the Rapyd Client Wallet before a disbursement. Rapyd compliance reviews and approves the client's bank account before funds can be sent to the Client Wallet. source
- Each wallet currency account has four balance types: available (usable for payouts, conversion and withdrawals), received (collected but not yet settled), on hold, and reserve. The reserve balance is usually held in USD and its minimum is set in the client's agreement with Rapyd. source
How to see your Rapyd balance
| Channel | What it gives you | Source |
|---|---|---|
| API | GET /v1/ewallets/{ewallet}/accounts (Retrieve Balances of Wallet Accounts) returns, for each currency account, balance (available), received_balance, on_hold_balance, reserve_balance and limits such as max_balance_limit and min_balance_threshold. It replaces the deprecated GET /v1/user/{wallet}/accounts. | source |
| webhook | EWALLET_ADDED_FUNDS fires when funds are added to a Rapyd Wallet and carries an accounts array with the available, on-hold, received and reserve balance of each currency account. | source |
| portal | In the Client Portal, My Account > Account balance shows each currency account in every client wallet with available, received, hold and reserve balances, funding requests and wallet thresholds. A notification is sent when a wallet balance falls below its threshold. Requires Owner, Administrator or Editor privileges. | source |
| statement file | The Account Statement is a PDF for one wallet account and currency over a chosen date range (default one year), listing each transaction, the balance after each transaction and the closing balance. | source |
| report | The Merchant Reconciliation Report (CSV, file version 1.9) is generated daily at 2:00 AM UTC, with a consolidated monthly report on the 1st. It covers payouts and payout reversals, wallet-to-wallet transfers, payments, refunds and other transaction types. | source |
| API | The Partitioned Reports API at https://files.rapyd.net returns reconciliation and settlement data by day and page, for example GET /v1/recon/partitioned_reports/merchant_reconciliation_report/{yyyy}/{mm}/{dd}/{page}. | source |
| portal | Owners and Administrators can create custom Client Portal roles by choosing View, Edit or Create permissions per category, so a role can be limited to View permissions. | source |

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to prefund Rapyd before sending payouts?
Yes. Rapyd Disburse uses a Good Funds model, so the Rapyd Client Wallet must hold available funds before a disbursement is made.
Which API call returns my Rapyd wallet balance?
GET /v1/ewallets/{ewallet}/accounts. It returns the available balance plus received, on-hold and reserve balances for each currency account in the wallet.
Can I get a daily file to reconcile Rapyd activity?
Yes. The Merchant Reconciliation Report is a CSV generated daily at 2:00 AM UTC, and the same data can be pulled by day and page through the Partitioned Reports API.
