Yellow Card: balances, prefunding and reporting

By · Last updated

Yellow Card is a stablecoin on and off-ramp with a Payments API that collects and pays out local currency by bank transfer and mobile money in 20 African countries, with further corridors in Latin America and Asia. Clients fund their balance before paying out, either by sending USDT, USDC or PYUSD to a top-up address shown in the Treasury Portal or through dedicated virtual accounts in USD, EUR, GBP and local currencies, then track it through GET /business/account, the Treasury Portal, a reconciliation report endpoint and signed webhooks.

ChannelWhat it gives youSource
APIGET /business/account (Get Account Balances) returns the partner's available balance per wallet, with currency and currencyType (fiat, crypto or stock).source
APIGET /business/sub-wallets lists the partner's per-currency fiat sub-wallets (NGN, KES, ZAR, UGX, USD), which hold the spendable balance for both collections and disbursements, with optional linked virtual account data.source
reportGET /business/recon (Get Reconciliation Report) returns opening and closing balances per token for a date range and the transactions in between, paginated up to 100 results per page.source
portalThe Treasury Portal shows account balances and transaction history and is where users generate API keys, configure webhooks, manage deposit and withdrawal addresses and manage team access. Two-factor authentication is mandatory for portal access.source
read-only keyAPI keys are created in the Treasury Portal with separate permissions: API read (get channels, rates and payments) and API write (create collections, payments and settlements), so a key can be limited to read access.source
webhookWebhooks fire on every event or on one chosen state and are signed with an X-YC-Signature header. Current v2 event names use the SEND.* and RECEIVE.* prefixes, and CRYPTO_SEND.*, CRYPTO_RECEIVE.* and CONVERT.* replace the legacy SETTLEMENT.* events.source

Frequently asked questions

How do I fund a Yellow Card account before paying out?

Send USDT, USDC or PYUSD on a supported network to the top-up wallet address shown in the Treasury Portal, or receive funds into your dedicated virtual accounts (USD by ACH, wire or SWIFT; EUR by SEPA; GBP by Faster Payments; and local currencies), which are credited to your balance. Payment requests need a funded balance first.

What happens to a payout if my Yellow Card balance is too low?

It enters the PENDING_LIQUIDITY state. It processes automatically once your top-up completes, or fails after 2 hours.

Can I give a monitoring tool read-only access to Yellow Card?

Yes. API keys created in the Treasury Portal carry separate API read and API write permissions, so you can issue a key with API read only, which Yellow Card describes as covering resources such as channels, rates and payments. Balances are returned by GET /business/account and opening and closing balances over a date range by GET /business/recon.
