Why this matters for prefunding
When Dominican Republic banks or payment rails close, a top-up sent to a local payout partner may not land until the next business day. Remittance demand often rises around the same holidays. Fund the corridor before the closure, sized for the closed days plus your normal top-up lead time. Check your corridor runway.

What to watch
Highest-risk window: New Year 2027. New Year's Day falls on Friday 1 Jan and Epiphany moves to Monday 4 Jan under Ley 139-97, so ACH and regular LBTR operations stop from Friday 1 to Monday 4 Jan 2027, one week after the Christmas weekend (Friday 25 to Sunday 27 Dec 2026). January has two more closures: Thursday 21 and Monday 25 Jan. The Ministry of Labour confirms each year's moved dates in a notice late in the previous year (the 2026 notice came out on 5 Nov 2025). Pagos al Instante BCRD runs every calendar day from 07:00 to 23:00, so DOP instant payouts continue on holidays; ACH and regular LBTR operations stop. The Banco Central plans a new 24/7 instant payment system for the first half of 2027.
