Why this matters for prefunding
When Nepal banks or payment rails close, a top-up sent to a local payout partner may not land until the next business day. Remittance demand often rises around the same holidays. Fund the corridor before the closure, sized for the closed days plus your normal top-up lead time. Check your corridor runway.

What to watch
Highest-risk windows: Tihar (Sunday 8 to Thursday 12 November 2026) and Dashain 2027 (expected Wednesday 6 to Tuesday 12 October), when Nepal Clearing House systems also close, then Tihar 2027 (expected Friday 29 October to Monday 1 November) and Chhath (expected Thursday 4 November). The weekend has been Saturday and Sunday since 6 April 2026: NRB directed banks, financial institutions and Nepal Clearing House to close on both days, with banking hours of 9:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday (9:00 to 16:00 from Kartik 16 to Magh 15). The 2084 BS list, which covers 14 April 2027 onward, has not been issued (the 2083 list was published on 2 March 2026); dates after 13 April 2027 here follow the Nepali calendar.
