Why this matters for prefunding
When Tanzania banks or payment rails close, a top-up sent to a local payout partner may not land until the next business day. Remittance demand often rises around the same holidays. Fund the corridor before the closure, sized for the closed days plus your normal top-up lead time. Check your corridor runway.

What to watch
Highest-risk window: March 2027. The two Eid el Fitr days are expected on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 March, and two weeks later Good Friday 26 March and Easter Monday 29 March close banks on either side of Saturday 27 March, a TACH clearing day. The Public Holidays Act (Cap. 35, as revised in 2023) does not move a holiday that falls on a weekend, so Boxing Day 2026, Workers' Day, Nane Nane, Maulid and Christmas and Boxing Day 2027 add no weekday closure; the President can still add or substitute holidays by proclamation. Islamic holidays follow moon sighting and are confirmed shortly before. TIPS runs 24/7 including holidays and TISS settles around the clock, while TACH clearing runs Monday to Saturday and stops on public holidays.
