What to watch
The weekend is Friday and Saturday. There are no Saudi bank holidays between 1 November and 31 December 2026. Highest-risk window: Eid al-Fitr 2027. With the weekends, banks are shut from Friday 5 to Saturday 13 March under SAMA's schedule, and SARIE RTGS stops from Monday 8 to Wednesday 10 March. Eid al-Adha closes banks from Sunday 16 to Thursday 20 May (Friday 14 to Saturday 22 May with the weekends), with SARIE shut from 16 to 18 May. SAMA fixed these closure dates in its official schedule of 17 September 2025, which covers 2026 to 2029. SARIE RTGS is open on 7 and 11 March and on 19 and 20 May, when banks are closed. The sarie instant payment system runs 24/7 including holidays for transfers of up to SAR 20,000; larger SAR payments wait for SARIE RTGS on the next working day. Founding Day (Monday 22 February) and National Day (Thursday 23 September) are the other closures; neither moves in 2027.
