Why this matters for prefunding
When Senegal banks or payment rails close, a top-up sent to a local payout partner may not land until the next business day. Remittance demand often rises around the same holidays. Fund the corridor before the closure, sized for the closed days plus your normal top-up lead time. Check your corridor runway.

What to watch
Highest-risk window: mid-May 2027. Ascension (Thursday 6 May) and Whit Monday (17 May) fall around Tabaski, which is expected on Monday 17 May but follows the moon; a Tuesday Tabaski would close banks on both 17 and 18 May. Korite is expected on Wednesday 10 March. Senegal's Islamic dates are confirmed only the evening before and often fall a day after Saudi Arabia's (Tabaski 2026 was on 27 May for some and 28 May for most). Law 74-52 moves only Korite and Tabaski to the Monday when they fall on a Sunday, so National Day (Sunday 4 April) and the 15 August and Maouloud weekend in 2027 add no weekday closure; the President can declare extra days by decree. Regional closures: STAR-UEMOA and the regional SICA-UEMOA clearing run on one exchange calendar for all eight UMOA states, the BCEAO publishes each year the holidays common to the eight states and those of each state, and Senegal's national clearing also closes on Senegalese holidays.
